From Co-op to Career: Alumni Share Their Journeys at Wentworth Weekend

A group of people sitting in chairs

On a picture-perfect Saturday during Wentworth Weekend, alumni, students, and families gathered for one of the event’s most inspiring highlights—the “Where Are They Now?” alumni panel. This much-anticipated discussion brought together graduates spanning the decades of Wentworth’s one-of-a-kind, 50-year co-op program, offering a vibrant conversation about careers, mentorship, and the power of hands-on learning.

Moderated by Robbin Beauchamp, Assistant Provost of Co-ops & Careers, the panel featured alumni whose stories showcased the breadth of a Wentworth education—from engineers and designers to industry leaders and partners. Panelists shared personal reflections on how co-op experiences shaped their professional paths, the lessons learned along the way, and the moments that defined their journeys.

Attendees heard candid insights and advice from those who’ve navigated career pivots, embraced innovation, and now give back as mentors and employers of current students. Together, they painted a full-circle picture of Wentworth’s impact—one that extends far beyond graduation.

The conversation served as both a celebration of our 50-year co-op legacy and a reminder of what makes Wentworth truly special: a community of makers, doers, and problem-solvers whose education continues to shape industries and change lives.

As panelist Katie Gibbs ’98, B.S. ’00 shared during the panel, “At the spring career fair, I ended up with an offer from an Architecture firm and a Construction Management firm. I chose the construction management route and have been very happy in my career since. Before Wentworth, I didn’t know construction management was an option. I am thankful for the real-world exposure I had during my education as it has been the foundation of a rewarding career.

It was a moment of pride for all Wentworth community members, honoring the enduring value of real-world experience and the lifelong connections that begin here.
