Gabe Gomez is a recipient of the Flatley Discovery Endowed Scholarship which is awarded to deserving students who are majoring in biomedical engineering, biological engineering, or applied sciences and live in the city of Boston. The Flatley Foundation is a generous donor to the university and believes in the potential of our students and recognizes the barriers many students face in trying to afford higher education.
Mr. Flatley is a former Wentworth Trustee and current Trustee Emeritus. He serves as a Trustee of The Flatley Foundation, a philanthropic organization which supports a variety of causes. The Foundation was founded by Mr. Flatley’s late father, Thomas J. Flatley, in 1982. Mr. Flatley is focused on carrying out his late father’s philanthropic vision for the Foundation and Wentworth is privileged to be among the causes supported.
Gabe expressed his appreciation for the financial support as it helps immeasurably in his efforts to stay mentally, physically, socially, and academically healthy. Gabe came to Wentworth with many financial obligations to take care of at home, and this scholarship enables him to navigate his finances, while focusing on earning his degree.
As a student committed to his studies and also helping to support the financial burdens facing his family, this scholarship support ensures that he can focus on his academics while also working part-time 25 hours a week. Gabe has many hobbies and shared that he has some peace of mind with this support that enables him to keep learning, balance his family, leisure, and work commitments, and stay on track to graduate on time.
We are very grateful to generous donors – individuals, industry partners, and foundations that support Wentworth students through scholarship support.
