Student Credits Scholarship to Helping Her Focus and Excel in Academics, Athletics, and Community Service

Scholarship Recipient Chaise Kakuk '23

Chaise Kakuk, a class of 2023 Construction Management student, and native of Laguna Niguel, California, is the proud recipient of the Shawmut Design and Construction Scholarship. Chaise is a dedicated student who participates on the volleyball team, tutors her peers, is an active member of the Construction Management Club, and gives back to the community surrounding campus.

During the summer of 2021, Chaise participated in the co-op program and worked for Shawmut Design and Construction in their Irvine, California office. As an active participant in the Construction Management Club, Chaise publishes podcast episodes covering diverse topics in the construction industry. (https://anchor.fm/witcmclub). As a club member, she meets with the Executive Board and construction management faculty to discuss and plan club visions, while also serving as a student liaison to CMAA board members.

Chaise is also a high achiever outside of the classroom as a member of the volleyball team where she dedicates 15+ hours a week to training, practice, and matches, while maintaining a full-time student schedule. She also volunteers in the Mission Hill and Roxbury communities to support underprivileged children.

Chaise shared that receiving this generous scholarship helps her to focus on school, athletics, and community service by relieving the financial stress placed on her family to afford college in Boston. Her family was greatly affected by the pandemic and this financial support has made it possible to not only succeed at Wentworth, but to thrive.

As she pursues her dream of working in the construction industry, Chaise is very grateful to Shawmut Design and Construction for supportng her as she works towards a successul career in the construction industry.
